Thanks to funding from the Rhosne-Alpes region and the French National Center
for Scientific Research (CNRS), the Plasma Laboratory of the Joseph Fourier
Grenoble University has helped the University of Da Nang with human resource
training and equipments in order to do scientific research and carry out
postgraduate training in micro-nano and plasma technology since 2004. To date,
two Doctors of Science from the University of Da Nang have been trained in this
major, and a Plasma laboratory with two reactors and means of basic study of
plasma at the Univertsity of Da Nang was inaugurated by the end of October,
2009.
In order to discuss carrying out postgraduate training in the above-mentioned
major, Professor Bui Van Ga, President of the University of Da Nang, and Dr.
Tran Tan Vinh, Rector of the College of Information Technology - the University
of Da Nang, conducted a visiting work to Joseph Fourier University, France from
18th to 23rd, December, 2009.
On December 18th, Professor Farid OUABDESSELAM, President of Joseph Fourier
University, and Professor Jean Michel TERRIEZ, Rector of the Grenoble Institute
of Technology, received the delegation from the University of Da Nang. The
leaders of the two universities reached a consensus on co-operating in
postgraduate training in micro-nano and plasma technology as well as boosting
their co-operation in tertiary training in information technology and embedded
systems. In the coming time, Joseph Fourier University will admit young
lecturers from the University of Da Nang who have Master degree and good English
or French proficiency into Grenoble to be trained in the above-mentioned majors.

The delegation met and discussed with Professor Serge KOX, Director of the
Grenoble Nuclear Physics Laboratory as well. Professor Serge KOX affirmed that
they would continue to assist the Plasma laboratory of the University of Da Nang
in the international laboratory network of France-Vietnam co-operation in
Nanotechnology and Nuclear Physics.
The delegation had detailed disscussion with Professor Jacques PELLETIER and
Professor Ana LACOSTE on the co-operation programme of starting Master training
in Micro-nano and Plasma technology at the University of Da Nang. The two sides
were unanimous in a roadmap to launching this training programme by the end of
the year 2010. The programme will be delivered by French and Vietnamese
professors in English. The contents of the training programme will be
unanimously discussed by a group of specialists from the two universities in the
coming time.
In order to have sustainable implementation of this co-operation programme,
Plasma Grenoble laboratory will continue to help train 5 Doctors of this major
for the university of Da Nang so that they could become core researchers-
lecturers in the field of micro-nano and plasma technology. The two sides were
unanimous in providing opportunities for the researchers from the two
univeristies to publish reserach papers and announce joint results thanks to the
equippment installed at the University of Da Nang.
Building and developing the fields of micro-nano and plasma technology are among
the strategic plan of developing the University of Da Nang into a research
university in 2020. The University of Da Nang would like to express its sincere
thanks to the Rhone Alpes region, the French National Center for Scientific
Research (CNRS) and Joseph Fourier University for their practical and effective
help in the University of Danang’s process of attaining the bove-mentioned
strategic goal.
